No Longer Stray, Duffy's in High Snow (er, Cotton)!

Stray is one of the 25 CP 2000 Kids we helped bring in to CP in August. He's the brother to Raffle, Unity, and Emancipation. This morning, I took my young Stray boy to the airport, racing ahead of a winter storm that never really materialized - thank goodness!

He took his first flight, all the way to Newark, NJ, where his new Mom and her neighbor friend met him and started their journey back home. There was heavy traffic on the jersey turnpike, even though it was the middle of the afternoon, and then the "sawmill" was stop and go. They finally made it home, and with the help of her neighbor, he met his new brother, Rumble, another CP kid Mary Ann adopted in 9/07. They smelled each other top to bottom and back again, and seem to be thrilled - realizing they're both cairn terriers!

After supper, Mary Ann took them to the back yard where she's shoveled a path to the trees and important vertical spots around the back yard, but Stray, never having seen a foot of white fluffy snow, decided to bail off the deck and try walking on water, so to speak. His momma got him out of the deep stuff and onto the path, where they both explored, but he still hasn't pottied.

They're all back in the house and exhausted from their excursion into their new lives together. Stray has found the toybox full of toys and is hesitantly exploring his new home. And you know what? Mary Ann didn't want to put a belly band on him because of him having a wet tummy from the snow - she wants him comfortable and will clean up the river if that's what happens.

My Stray boy has gone from the mill deemed the worst of the worst in MO to High Cotton! I've had my cry, but I know he's already loved and will never wont for anything. His new name is Duffy. So long, Stray, and welcome, Duffy, to your new life that's begun today :-)
