The Bumstead Puppies Turn 1 Year Old!

It is hard to believe it has been a year since these 8 little miracles came into the world. They were beautiful puppies and they all grew up to be as gorgeous as their mama Blondie! Thank you to all the Bumstead forever families for sending pictures and updates for this 1 year album! Happy First Birthday Bumsteads! Hugs and Kisses, Foster Parents Lori and Mike

Baby Dumpling
Baby Dumpling or Baby D as she prefers now that she is a big girl has blossomed into quite the lil character and the love of my life! She may look girly but she is not! She likes nothing better than to be in HER back yard chasing lizards and running away the birds! She plays in the water hose..then rolls in the dirt! She hates weed whackers and when I dress her up..but loves me enough to let me! I cannot wait to share at least 17 more of these with her! Cheers to the Bumstead Babies...they are not Babies anymore!

Beazley
Beazley, Beazley, Beazley! Here is a little boy who was so sweet and cute when he first came home. He has learned how to race and zoom. He has learned that his sisters won't take any crap from him. Beaz loves to sing! I whistle a tune, rather off key and Beaz is in my lap just arooing away with me. He loves to dig and play chase! But Beazley has learned to be a real cuddler! And when you think he won't do what's asked? Give this boy some praise and encouragement and he will move the world for you! Okay, he does like to chew the rose bushes down at the base. My new pruning tool. Beazley is a vicious bird hunter and a great fisherman. He was pretty upset though. He did get one fish, but couldn't get it out of the pond. We are fertilizing one of his rose bushes with that fish. Sigh......A whole year of laughter and fun. Thanks Blondie and Dagwood.

Bennie (fka Dithers)
Bennie - Malto-Bennie - Bennie-malto - Benitiomo - Benjamin Dithers - the Benniemiester or when he is with his sister Rosie (Rosita) they are affectionately known as the "Weasels". We are convinced that Bennie has been trying to kill himself since he arrived at our house - he just hasn't figured out how yet. If he can reach the object - it's his and he needs to either eat it, swallow it whole, rip it into shreds or destroy it forever. Bennie leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes. Notice I said reach the object . . . Bennie climbs and jumps and manages to locate objects for destruction just when you think they are safe. He has stopped digging - which is good as he would dig and Rosie would escape. Yes they are best friends and buddies. I don't think there is a mean bone in Bennie's body -- he loves everything and everyone . . . so you can imagine my surprise when on a walk he charged the people as they passed and bit their pants. I think he wanted to play. A problem arose when he got their leg as well as the pant . . . hmmm - it's difficult to convince some of the neighbors that he just wants to be friends - ha! Now that we realize that he's a "little nipper" he is on a very short leash and we appear to have this bad habit nipped in the bud -- pun intended. We can't seem to break him from unraveling the Oriental carpets -- the edges - which he then pulls and the entire, hand tied carpet is then shredded by the young lad. I keep telling John that he can't help himself -- it's doggie entrapment - one little thread unravels and well . . . he just has to . . . if he just pulls a little... The really good rugs are now in storage until he outgrows this extremely bad and expensive habit. Bennie loves the sprinkler heads -- when we are on a walk and he comes across a lawn being watered and the sprinkler heads are up, he uses the sprinklers as drinking foundations. He covers the sprinkler with his mouth and takes a long drink and goes on to the next one. He doesn't really bite them (one of the few things he has no desire to destroy) but he does get all wet and is very proud of himself after taking a deep drink. I've never seen a dog do this -- it may be common behavior but new to my experience -- it's hysterical. Any day of the week, after breakfast - Bennie and Rosie will put on a display of Weasel Wrestling - Sun, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. . . etc. morning slap down!!! We love him. Rosie loves him. The neighbors . . . not so much. But our grandsons adore him. . . . Thank you for Bennie.

Chica (fka Cora)
Chica (Cora) is almost all grown and is lighter than we thought she’d be when she was a puppy. We love her so much and she seems to love everything about her people, house, yard, food, neighborhood dogs, all dogs and anything else. She smiles all the time and tests every limit! Her personality is perfect. Thank you again for being her foster mother.

Gracie (fka Daisy)
Her absolute favorite thing to do is DIG – long after the rest of the crew comes in to cool off, Grace can be found in the (fka) vegetable garden digging. She’ll throw dirt up in the air just so she can chase it, or sometimes she’ll head for China. She is *always* covered in her dirt and her big pink tongue is usually black too! She’s a very social girl; has never met a person or dog she didn’t like. She is about to graduate into the Intermediate level of agility classes and just started taking a tracking class. In June, the two of us flew to the Poconos for an Earthdog event and had a ball! When the people mover in the Atlanta airport broke down, the two of us ‘ran’ thru 3 concourses (Grace only has one speed, and its FAST!). Every once in a while, she’ll slow down and cuddle on the couch or curl up with Henry or Quincy. She is my very, very special girlie-girl! Happy Birthday Gracie and all of the Bumstead kids. Thanks again for giving them such a great start in life. Wouldn’t it be nice if one of these days we could have a ‘family reunion’ J !

Radcliffe
He is such a love. Radcliffe's personality is a little timid, gets nervous and stays close to my side. Loves to play, chase you around the yard, a little nervous around children but very good has never misbehaved, loves to play with his brother Humphrey and loves to give kisses and hellos. He is now allowing our grandson Liam 5 let him in and out of the house and loves to give him kisses!

Prunella or Pru (fka Cookie)
Here are some of her likes and dislikes:Likes: eating poo (she stopped this when we began monitoring her outdoor visits a bit more closely, and picking up after her), she loves the Natural Balance treats and comes running when she hears the treat jar, she loves Peanut Butter as well as fresh baby carrots, she picked up fetch pretty quickly and she does the "Please" pose (sitting on her back legs and picking up her front legs, as in the "begging" stance - so cute!) for EVERYTHING. We could be preparing OUR own meal and she'll do it; she loves chasing birds and squirrels - a true Cairn.
Dislikes: BATHTIME, the white cat stuffed toy (it's a stuffed cat doll and it has white fur; I used to rub it on my own cats back in the day and I guess the smell stuck; anyway, it really freaks her out), the mailman. Pru is an EXCELLENT traveler. We've taken her on two super-long car drives. One to Las Cruces, New Mexico for Thanksgiving and the second to Montreal, Canada. She did so well on these rides. She whimpers a bit at the beginning but then settles in for a long nap.
I look forward to seeing all of Pru's brothers and sisters in the album. We love Pru and she's become a big part of our little family!

Tootsie
Tootsie is quite the talker and doesn't shut up until she is heard. Tootsie doesn't have a mean bone in her body and there isn't a person or dog that Tootsie has met that she doesn't like. Tootsie seems to have her mama Blondie's sweet nature with babies as she is a wonderful foster puppy nanny. Now birds and critters are another matter, as she has a very strong prey drive. Tootsie also loves to eat anything, edible or not, that doesn't eat her first! Her housebreaking skills slide backwards occasionally. Unfortunately she is so spoiled she doesn't even know when she is told she is not a good girl......which really isn't that often for a cairn terror:)
