Happy Valentine from Tucker and Zoe!!

Hello Col. Potter,

This is Tucker, or you might remember me as Canada. My family adopted me from you in November of 2008. I haven't sent you an update in a while, so I just wanted to stop by and say THANK YOU again for letting my family adopt me. I couldn't ask for a better life. As my dogter says, I'm spoiled rotten. I have to say I can understand why they spoil me. After all, I'm pretty cute if I do say so myself and I'm just a little "sweetheart". At least that's what my Mommy says.

I got very sick a few months ago and really had my family worried. I got lots of lumpies all over my body and ran a fever. I was so weak I had trouble walking and barely got out of my bed for weeks. But, through it all, I never stopped eating. Nope, you won't get between me and my grub. Eating's my favorite. So that the dogter could try and figure out what was wrong, he had to cut some of my lumpies out to test them. I had to take some pills, and couldn't go on walkies. In fact, we participated in a parade with Westie Rescue of Tennessee just before the holidays and I had to ride in a stroller. Can you believe it? How embarrassing! Anyway, after weeks of testing, they never figured out exactly what was wrong with me. But thank goodness, all my lumpies have gone away and my fever is down and I'm feeling great!

I'm loving life with my family, my Westie sister, Zoe and all our Westie foster furbrothers and fursisters. Life is good! Thanks so much Col. Potter for rescuing me from that awful puppy mill and giving me a chance at a wonderful life. I hope you like my Valentine's picture. That's me with my bossy sister, Zoe.

Tucker: Loving the Best Life!

It's been a while since we've sent an update on our Tucker-man, so we thought we'd let Col. Potter know Tucker's doing just swell. He's been here in his furever home now for over 2.5 years, and we just don't know what we'd do without him. He and his Westie sister Zoe keep us entertained and busy!

Tucker has come a long way since that fall day we picked him up from his foster mom, Stacey. He still has some fears - we suppose he will always have, but he's a sweet, friendly little guy who loves his walks, trips to the pet store and most of all - Mommy's homemade treats. This boy LOVES to eat! Tucker's going to experience his first vacation in September when we take him and Zoe to the Smoky Mtns. We can't wait!

We'd like to thank Col. Potter once again for inspiring us to get involved in rescue. We are volunteers with Westie Rescue of TN and often have a foster Westie in our home, as we do right now. Tucker's been very accepting of the fosters, and he and Zoe have been a great help in showing the little rescues the ropes.

Were it not for Col. Potter we wouldn't have our precious Tucker and we wouldn't have found the joy we've found in rescue. There is nothing like seeing the gratitude in the eyes of a little rescue when you clean him up, give him a soft bed, good food, plenty of fresh, clean water and love. As you all know, rescue is hard work but it is SO rewarding.

Thank you to all the volunteers who give SO much of themselves so that little Cairns just like Tucker can live the good life just like Tucker is.

A "Tucker" Celebration

Dear Col. Potter,

We just wanted to give you guys yet another update on our "sweetest" of boys, Tucker fka Canada. Tucker celebrated his 2nd Gotcha Day with us on November 8th and his 4th birthday today, November 14th. We can't belive it's been two years already. My how time flies when you're having fun. And believe me, fun is what we're having with our precious little happy-go-lucky Cairn boy and his bossy Westie sister, Zoe. They are the perfect pair. We had never had two dogs at the same time prior to adopting Tucker, and didn't really know what to expect. But, I have to say, adopting Tucker from Col. Potter was a great decision. He and Zoe are just the perfect balance of sassy and sweet, and we cannot even imagine our life without them. Col. Potter saved Tucker's life and Tucker has forever changed ours. Thank you again to all the Col. Potter volunteers who give endlessly of their time and talents to save and rehome this precious pups. It's because of you and our Tucker that we are now volunteering with a rescue group in our state. Keep up the good work. You guys rock!

Hey Ebrybody,


Dis heer is Tucker, but you mite no me as Canada. Col. Potter let my new fambly dopt me back in Nobember of 2008. And I gotta tell ya, dis new furebber fambly gots some really gooder stuffs. I no I only beend heer for a year and 8 munfs but I can tell ya, dis is where I wanna stay. Deese folks must weally lub me. No why? Dey gibs me da goodest food and plenty ob it and so much cool, clean water I can't ebber run out. And Mommy's weally picky bout what she feeds me -- no wheat or corn for me and none ob dat udder yucky stuff neeber. She eben makes my tweats homemade --- cooks 'em ebry week or so wite in our oben and dey is de-li-shus! And you no dat bossy Westie sister I telled you bout before, well she's still bossy, but she teached me some good stuffs, and she helped me not to be so doggone skeered of ebryfing. Well, I dis want to say fank yoo, fank yoo, fank yoo Col. Potter for gibbing me my furebber fambly. Dey is sooooo good to me. Dey gibs me hugs and kisses and tells me how handsome I is. Dey keeps me clean -- no bugs at all! Dey takes me for walks and wides in da car and eben to da pet stores all da time. So all yoo kids out dere dat still don't gots furebber famblies, just hang tite. Dey'll find yoo soon and boy are yoo gonna lub dis life! Fank yoo Col. Potter -- yoo is my hero! And Mommy wants me to say fank yoo for her too. And dat ebber since she dopted me, she tells ebrybody to dopt pets. Round our house, we say "used dogs rule!" Lubs yoo Col. Potter :)

Tucker and Zoe Send Holiday Wishes

Hello to all my friends at CPCRN, I'm spending my 2nd Christmas in my furever home and it's a wonderful life.

Mommy's letting me and Zoe help her wrap presents. We make sure the wrapping is paper is all smoothed out by walking all over it for her. Then, we have to taste all the bows to make sure they're perfect for each gift. Mommy says we are so much help, she doesn't know what she'd do without us!

The best part of this Christmas thing, is that there are so many great smells in our kitchen. Mommy's been baking homemade treats for our doggie cousins, and of course, she's making extras for us.

And, we have a tree in our greatroom! It's beautiful with lots of lights and shiny things. I've been such a good boy and haven't touched it at all. There are lots of pretty boxes and bags under the tree, and Mommy says one of them is for ME. I can't wait to see what's inside.

Tucker Doubles the Fun!

Tucker just celebrated his 1st Gotcha Day and his 3rd Birthday with his forever family. Last week for Tucker's Gotcha Day, we spent the afternoon at a new park where he and Zoe ran through the leaves, played on the kiddie playground and experienced lots of new smells. His birthday celebration included a party with cake and presents and a trip to the pet store.

This little guy's come a long way from where he was a year and a half ago. Up until a couple of years ago, we had never heard of a puppy mill. It wasn't until we stumbled onto Col. Potter's website that we learned of the thousands of dogs living every day of their lives in unimaginable conditions. Our hearts were touched, and we knew that the playmate we planned to get for our Westie girl, Zoe, would have to be a rescue from Col. Potter.

So, a little over a year ago, we began the process of getting approved to adopt one of these precious little Cairns. Our match was Canada, who we named Tucker, and even we could not have chosen a more perfect match for our family. Our precious "wild child" Zoe and sweet little "laid back" Tucker are a perfect balance and wonderfully compliment each other.

Tucker has come from a shy, scared little Cairn to a brave, happy and playful little boy. He still has some fears that will possibly always be with him, but it is simply amazing what good food and shelter, proper grooming and lots of understanding, encouragement, patience and love have done for our little guy.

There is no doubt, we have forever changed the life of this sweet Cairn boy, but there is also no denying that Tucker has forever changed us. We are firm believers in rescue now, and we are convinced that rescue is the very best way to add new pets to, not just our family, but any family. Our hearts break for all those yet to be rescued. We will always be grateful to those who work with Col. Potter, especially all those who played a part in bringing this special boy into our lives.

"Canada": 12 Months Later

We didn't realize until we looked at the post adoption blog that it was one year ago today that Tucker, formerly known as Canada, was "busted out" of the bad place. He doesn't look much like a PM kid today. Tucker's very proud of his new bandana and is lovin' his new life.

Tucker Figures It Out!!

Well, it took 7 months, but I think Tucker has finally figured it out. Tonight he rang the bell to go outside and potty for the very first time! We are so proud of him. We've tried and tried to get him to ring the bell, but he's always been too afraid. I guess he just picked it up from watching his Westie sister, Zoe. Needless to say, he got lots of "good boys", scratchies and a treat. This news was just too good...we had to share it. That's our boy! Patte in TN with Tucker fka Canada

Merry Christmas from Tucker (fka Canada)

Tucker (formerly known as Canada) is spending his first Christmas away from that horrible puppy mill and in a real home where he is spoiled rotten and loved very much! Our little guy is still not totally over his fears, but getting more comfortable in his new life every day. He and his Westie sister, Zoe are quite a pair. Zoe is definitely the "boss" but Tucker occasionally lets that Cairn personality shine through. They have so much fun ZOOMING through the house and around the backyard. We're excited for them to open their presents from Santa on Christmas morning. Getting good photos of them together can be quite a challenge, but this one in their new matching Christmas sweaters turned out perfect. They are so adorable and the very center of our life!
