Homemade Diet Nutrition Analysis

Cheryl writes: My foster has both diabetes and pancreatic failure (so makes no digestive enzymes.) Her food has to be absolutely highest quality so she can have the best chance of adsorbing the nutrients. I've opted for human-grade homemade food. Have the Merck Manual of Veterinary Medicine that lists the daily requirements for dogs. Found an on-line site that allows you to look up foods, put them in your "pantry", then concoct recipes. You name the recipe and hit analyze and it calculates all the nutrients, gives the ratio of protein, carbs, and fat. Lists vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. It has a "completeness" graph to show what nutrients are missing and calculates a glycemic index (good for preventing erratic blood sugars.) It rates the recipe on a 0 to 5 scale for "fullness factor" and "nutritional density." Editing (add or subtract foods or adjust quantities) is easy. The site is www.nutritiondata.com

I hope this may be helpful to you!
