Abbie & Gem Give Thanks!

Written by Abbie fka CP American

Gem and I are So Thankful for Daddy’s lap!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  Abbie here!  Gem sends her best wishes also, but doesn’t know how to use the computer yet so I’m doing it for both of us.

I am Thankful that Mom and Dad came into my life that day!  This will be my 4th Thanksgiving Day here on Long Island and I just had to let you know how happy I am - and Gem too - even though this is only her 3rd Thanksgiving here!

I am Thankful that Mom and Dad brought Gem home to meet me!

We are both really Thankful for Mom and Dad, and Mom and Dad are really Thankful to Col. Potter for rescuing us both and helping Match us all up!

Gem is Thankful that Daddy likes her to nap with him sometimes!

I could go on and on about how thankful we are for all the wonderful things we enjoy in our home, but Gem and I think we would be most thankful if you can do something to help one of the Fosters who still need to find a good home.  Wouldn’t that make you feel good too?

I am thankful for my own little green bed and my green balls!
Gem is thankful that I am happy to share my nice little bed!

Mom agreed with us and she had a nice Yum Yum video made showcasing All of the Foster Cairns and Mixes who still need homes.  Now, I’m not really sure what this “Yum Yum,” business is all about, but Gem and I do know what it is like to Not have a home.  We know what it’s like to have nothing to be thankful for…  When we look at all these wonderful faces, we remember how very lucky we are, Gem and I, and we are Thankful to everyone who helped us – On Thanksgiving Day and Everyday – even when my green balls are all broken or lost!

Yes, Gem and I have Lots to be Thankful for every day!

OK!  Forget about the turkey!  Let’s go see if Mom has any green balls we can play with!

Smudge Sparkles in Obedience!

Written by Smudge fka CP Champ

Smudge fka CP Champ

Well, Hello!  Smudge here!  My Mom is all excited about me earning my 3rd Leg and Title in AKC Rally Obedience, Novice B Division, but I have to confess, I am a little confused by all of this.  I mean, I started out in Iowa, four and a half years ago, with 4 legs all by myself – well, I guess my Momma and Poppa had something to do with it – but you know what I mean!

Smudge earns his 3rd Leg at AKC Trials

Obedience Trials is something my Mom used to do, a long time ago, before she had me, and she just decided that I was too smart to not get back into it.  We have done a lot of training over the years, and then she signed us up for this Leg thing.  Mom and I “finished” in three straight shows, all scores in the 90's out of 100.  Mom is like, “Smudge is a rock star!” but I am still confused – I still only see 4 legs, not 7… - but I am happy that Mom is so happy!

Smudge and Mom working together!

You know, I’m not so sure about the “obedience” part of this either.  I mean, Mom and I do a lot of training, we work together to get these “legs”, and we are both doing something we really want to do, so “obedience” …maybe not so much.  I am, after all, a Cairn!

Wiggles Delivers 5 years of Forever Moments!

Written by Wiggles fka CP Erin Renee

Wiggles fka CP Erin Renee doing QA for the grandkids

Hello there!  Little Miss Wiggles here!  I have been with my Forever Family now for Five years!  Five!  Ever since I was a little 10 month old baby!  My Mom is always talking about me like I’m some kind of wild hooligan (like Tigger and Harv are just “perfect”!), so I thought you might like to get the scoop from my perspective…

This is my yard, and I’d love for you to come and play!

I am, after all, a Cairn – all 11.5 lbs. of me!  I love to play with everyone and everything!  I love to outsmart Mom and Dad whenever I get the opportunity (See: Not sneaky; just Smart!... Hehehehehe…).  I love to let people know what I am thinking – and I will talk ‘till the cows come home – whatever that means!  I can also be every bit as deaf as the next Cairn when it comes to taking instruction from Mom and Dad.  I am, after all, a Cairn!

See?  I am very good when playing with the grandkids!

Now, of course, I shower Mom and Dad with kisses, and, just for them, I wiggle my whole back end continually while my tail wags a mile a minute.  I mean, they named me “Wiggles” so I guess this means a lot to them!

I love everyone I meet, and I adore all of the grandkids!  Mom and Dad often Foster other Cairns in need, so I play a big role helping them, working hard to teach them how to play tug with the toys, and definitely how to play zoomies around the yard and house.  Important skills for every Cairn!

I also do QA for the Fosters…
…Got to make sure these rope toys are up to snuff!
So, Mom can say what she wants, the truth is that I am genuinely affectionate, truly loving, and the Cutest Darn Cairn ever!  I am also very happy to have had the opportunity, for each day of these past five years, to wiggle into my Mom and Dad’s laps whenever they sit down – and I plan to keep on doing it!

Ike Finds Forever in TN!

Written by CP Ike’s New Mom

Ike has a new favorite spot!

Ike is settling in just fine!  He was all over the house last night investigating and finally curled up with us on the couch and fell fast asleep.   He is so beautifully mannered!  He went right into his crate last night, made his nest, and was quiet until this morning!

Ike had his bags packed, ready to go Home…
… and Riley rolled out the Welcome mat in TN!
It is fun to watch Ike check out the house.  He discovered the side lights by the font door this morning and found that he could scope out the neighborhood from a window that is just the right height.  He loves the back yard!  He found a mole trail this morning.  We are hoping he does the “terrier thing” with the moles!  We put a little bicycle light on his collar last night so we could keep track of him in the yard (We always did that with our little Welsh Terrier).  We watched the little flashing light bounce all over the back yard!

Dad is fun to hang out with…
…especially in the Kitchen!

We are so happy and Ike seems to be right at home!  This is such a different experience from the one that we had with Skylar.  She was a little mill girl and so timid.  We are also amazed at how large he is!   Not weight but just his overall size.  His body is almost the size that of our Welsh, and he is half again the size of Skylar.  He is a beautiful dog and has a beautiful coat!

We will take him for his first walk shortly but right now he is stretched out on the rug in front of the fire taking a little snooze.  Ike thinks it’s cold here in Tennessee!  He likes the rug in front of the fireplace.  That was Skylar’s favorite spot too!

Thanks to both of you, Foster Mom, Trish, and our Matchmaker, Susan W., and thanks to CPCRN!
