Brodie's Blankie

Here is an update from Brodie's Furever Mom:

When Brodie came to live here he came from his foster dad in PA with a blanket made by someone in the Col. Potter network. Brodie was understandably unsure of life, again, when he came here to new surroundings, a new human, and two new dogs. But he had the security of HIS blanket. The first evening here he dragged together a piece of fleece from one of the dog crates and his blanket and a few toys and made a 'nest' right in front of me. It was very endearing. I think whoever makes the blankets for the dog-kids are wonderful! I'm attaching a picture of him in his 'nest.'

Yes, Brodie, ever Col. Potter Kid gets his or her own blankie, lovingly made by a "Blankie Auntie".  The Aunties donate their time and materials, then send the blankie to the foster home, usually within a few weeks of the little cairn's arrival.  The blankie then becomes the cairn's very own and follows them to their adoptive home.

Three Dog Afternoon

Hi, Just wanted to share this photo of my three boys enjoying the sun and to mention how happy we are with Connor (CP Bambi, adopted Nov 2009).

Connor has settled right in and is all Cairn! He zooms around the house and yard and does flying leaps on Brodie (CP Kaleb, adopted Sept 2008) to get him to play. Brodie is just so tolerant of all the hair pulling and leg biting I can hardly believe it.

Mr. Fergus (the Scottie) was somewhat aggressive the first week with the puppy as he established who was Alpha, but now shares his balls and invites the puppy to play.

Thank you to all the volunteers that enable so many Cairns to have Happy Holidays now and in the future!

Bolero now Brodie

Quick update on our Brodie boy (fka Bolero). He is really at home now, had his second appointment at the groomers as you can see he looks beautiful. And he had his first appointment at the vet, since the vet is female he did wonderful. The stiffness in his back legs is almost un-dectable, due to the puppy massages and exercises. His pads have callused over so we will see what this winter brings. He has learned to sit up and beg with the best of them. Although he did seem very scared I took him to the vet seperated from Aila, I worried he thought he was going to be given away, but was very happy when he returned to his homestead, he play fights with my husband and son, and even takes toys back from Aila now. He has a great love for many peanut butter cookies and will even climb onto my chest to take them out of my mouth. Him and Aila have become quite the pair we thought they would be. He has truely found his one true home, and is the sweet boy you knew he would be. He still prefers me over anybody but seems just as content with Justin or Dan when I am not around. I guess for the most part I can say he is happy and SPOILED, he weights 18 lbs, and healthy. The vet feels this is a healthy weight for him. Camaro is now Brodie

Hello to all from The Pearcy Pack in Arkansas...Camaro, of American Car fame is now answering to the new name of Brodie. The Resident Dog, Lulu, needed a new "Brother" so it seemed like a good fit!!

Brodie & Lulu have taken up with one another like CRAZY!! It was love at first sight!! Brodie's never missed a step transitioning to his new home. He's still eating the bottom out of his bowl & loves playing with everything he's presented with.

The first time he heard the Donkeys bray...well... he wasn't quite sure about that but he's getting used to it!! He is registered in Obedience Class that will begin next week.

I can't thank all of you enough - Jerry, Diane, Liz and precious Foster Mom Pam...and many others I'm certain that participate in the Adoption Process that I'll never know about.

THANK YOU for everything you do that "put Cairns that need homes in homes that need Cairns".

Snickerdoodle's Christmas Card

I got this from my former foster Snickerdoodle's forever Mom today. There were some other shots too so I'll try to put them up on a site so everyone can see. They are very large so I have to reduce them.

I'm not going to mention that this one was obviously Photo-shopped - guess the boys wouldn't actually sit still at the same time, LOL It's adorable though.

Snicks is on the right and Brodie is on the left with the antlers. Snicks doesn't need antlers, he has his BEAUTIFUL EARS (how can you not love them, right??)

Brodie Sends a Happy Thanksgiving Wish

Brodie, who was adopted in September and now lives in Pennsylvania, is doing great! He turns his head every time his Mom points the camera at him, so no recent photos. But Brodie (fka Kaleb) and Fergus have become best buddies, playing and even sleeping together in the giant dog bed.

Brodie has settled into life with the Dennis boys. He defers to Sedge and Fergus, and bosses Robbie around just as do the other boys. The great fun on walks is picking up walnuts (yuck!) and carrying them along on the trip. I guess they look like balls.
